Adult ADHD Assessment & Evaluation

Connected and Curious Counseling provides formal adult ADHD assessment and evaluation both in person and via telehealth. As a licensed mental health counselor, we provide comprehensive evaluations for adults who are seeking clarity understanding, education, and practical options including non-medication choices. Many adults seek guidance or help due to having challenges with focus, organization, emotional regulation, restlessness, and feeling overwhelmed by daily tasks. These types of symptoms may be related to ADHD- or it could be trauma or other diagnoses playing a role. I provide a comprehensive trauma informed ADHD assessment that can help bring clarity for what may be the root of the distress and to help the individual have a better understanding of the overall nervous system in relation to their world. My evaluation is a process to help make sense of these experience in a supportive, empowering, and informative way.  The goal is to help adults better understand themselves within the context of their world, without judgments or labels and help better understand what and how ADHD can present itself in day-to-day life.

ADHD is often misunderstood as a childhood condition, but there are many myths and stigmas to this belief. In adults ADHD can look like the following:

-Difficulty sustaining focus on completing tasks

-Feeling easily distracted or mentally scattered

-Forgetfulness, disorganization or losing track of time

-Restlessness or inner feeling of being on the go

-Challenge with planning, prioritizing or following through on tasks

-Emotional impulsivity of difficulty managing frustration

These symptoms can affect work, relationships, daily routines and overall, well-being. Proper assessment and ruling in or out differential diagnoses is important in treatment and effective strategies to thrive. My clinical evaluation and assessment include the following:

  1. A detailed 90-minute clinical interview exploring symptoms, history, and daily function and
  2. A 60-minute session to go over in detail review of findings and recommendations
  3. Standardized assessment tools and questionarries
  4. Screening and assessment for diagnoses that can overlap with or mimic ADHD
  5. A written report of findings in detail and explanation of diagnoses outside of ADHD if found
  6. Personalized recommendation for treatment, skills, and next steps
  7. Provide client center written report to provide to outside providers if needed/applicable
